Addiction

Are you in control of it or is it in control of you?

Many substances and unhelpful behaviours are very seductive and we can all easily get caught up in a cycle of addiction.

When you have an addiction, whether it may be alcohol, drugs, smoking, gambling, sex, the internet or porn, you find that you no longer run your life – the addiction does.

The addiction is likely to be causing problems with ordinary life responsibilities and your health may be suffering. Relationships may also be under a lot of pressure. The addiction may be causing your loved ones to be worried about you. You may have lost an intimate relationship or be at risk of this and you may be losing friendships.

Your former hopes, dreams and ambitions may be far away from you. And, the addiction itself may not be giving you any pleasure any more.

It can be a struggle to give up addiction but with the right help and support it is possible. At ‘The Psychology Space’, we help you to put in place the support you need and to consider new healthy coping strategies for the emotional and physical stress you feel so that you can regain control of your life, your hopes and your dreams.
