Sex Therapy

Sex therapy is counselling with a focus on intimacy and sexual problems. This is usually due to a lack of intimacy. Effective sex therapy can also assist in enhancing your sex life to be even better.

Sex therapy services only involve talking about sexual issues in a safe, non-judgemental environment. We understand some people may feel uncomfortable or shy about discussing this topic, and prefer the information be kept private. But that shyness may have you delaying getting help, You may be surprised at how ‘normal’ the issue is, that is many people experience the same kinds of intimacy problems.

We have experience in talking about many sexual issues such as:

  • Premature or delayed ejaculation
  • Erectile dysfunction or impotence
  • Inability or difficult in reaching orgasm
  • Performance anxiety
  • Painful intercourse
  • Loss of desire
  • Sexual Compulsions
  • Sexual fantasies and phobias
  • Gender identity issues and sexual orientation

In counselling, we ask questions about the nature of the issue; the length of time of the problem and the steps taken to resolve the issue.  We are interested in your thoughts. Talkingdirectly to the counsellor, as a third person, is often so much easier than speaking to each other as the counsellor can help to mediate the issue.

Usually only a few sessions are needed, and sometimes it can be helpful to have an individual session each, one on one without your partner present. It is not always necessary to come to counselling for sexual issues with your partner. Don’t put off getting help for this important area of your life.
